Il Colore di Mimmo Jodice

May 17, 2026 – January 10, 2027

Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, Naples

The Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro pays tribute to Mimmo Jodice with Il colore di Mimmo Jodice (The Color of Mimmo Jodice), an exhibition produced and organized by D’Uva in collaboration with the Mimmo Jodice Studio, curated by Sylvain Bellenger.

The exhibition presents the only color project ever created by the artist: over forty photographs dedicated to masterpieces of the Neapolitan 17th century—some of which are previously unpublished—originally conceived in the 1900s during Jodice’s visits to the exhibition La Civiltà del Seicento a Napoli at the Capodimonte Museum.

The images—focused on works by Caravaggio, Ribera, Luca Giordano, Artemisia Gentileschi, and other Baroque masters—isolate details, faces, and pictorial fragments, transforming them into suspended, contemporary visions. This rare body of work has been restored and brought back to light today thanks to a major conservation effort promoted by D’Uva.

Furthermore, the exhibition represents the first major retrospective tribute dedicated to Jodice following his passing. It unfolds throughout the spaces of the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, creating a dialogue with the historical collections through an immersive display designed specifically for the itinerary.

The opening also coincides with the inauguration of the museum’s new reception areas and a new lighting system designed by lighting designer Filippo Cannata.

The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples.
